When the past has passed!

Over the last couple of days the field next to us has slowly but surely been filling up with vintage cars, lorries and buses, some of them from my childhood; capris, morris minors, MKI cortinas etc; for the Llandudno transport Festival. There has also been a large campsite growing filled with caravans and motorhomes with people arriving for the Victorian Extravaganza, when they will dress in clothes of the Victorian Era and parade down the steet in Llandudno where there is a funfair with rides from a bygone age. Our fascination with the past and percieved simpler times can sometimes seem like a piece of harmless fun, and it can be, as long as we keep it like that and don't dwell on 'the good old days'.

The same with our lives, memories are good when they are good, and bad when they are bad, but whether your memories are good or bad, or like most people a mixture of both there is a danger in dwelling on them. We harken after the 'good old days' and get down about our current situation or we get focused on the bad and get depressed. No the Bible tells us that it is better to not remember the former things or consider the things of old. While the occasional trip down memory lane won't harm you parking there can be dangerous.

Through Jesus we are new creations, the old has passed and the new has come, alleluia!

2 Corinthians 5:17 New King James Version

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
