Chasing the wind!

Last Saturday we seemed to be at a loose end and manged to fill our day in pretty aimlessly, even trying to track down the No. 26 Greta Orme Summit bus, to no avail. On Sunday morning over coffee we came to the conclusion that we had basically managed to fritter away a day, some of it quite pleasantly but some of it was quite depressingly pointless.

The book of Ecclesiastes talks about this, but the writer actually says 'all is vanity and grasping for the wind,' not just the odd wasted Saturday afternoon but all of life is pointless. If you just spend your time looking for meaning in what you are doing and not what you are and whose you are, you will end up trying to fill a void that only God, through a relationship with Jesus Christ, can fill.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 New King James Version

11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts.

God has put eternity in our hearts, and only knowing that we will spend eternity with Him will truly satisfy us and we do that, not by chasing things and significance but by believing in Jesus.

John 3:16 New King James Version

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

The writer of Ecclesiastes finishes with the following.........
