ALO June!

June is here and how quickly the 1st of June came and went. Probably because we had 'the boys', Rufus and Axel, staying with us over the past couple of days, energy and all go from start to finish. (That's 6.00am until after 8.00pm, depending on how long it takes Jean to settle them into bed, but it is always fun.)

Distractions are part of life, there are good distractions (like the boys coming to stay) and there can be bad distractions, (fill in the blank, I'm sure you've had some), but it is important not to let distractions run your life. Who (or what ) you put in charge of your life will determine how much joy you get from life, in all circumstances.

The Bible tells us if we give everything to God, He will bring peace in all situations, a peace that passes all understanding, ie you will have peace when in your own strength you would not expect to have peace.

Philippians 4:6-7 New King James Version

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

We recently heard a preacher use a simple acronym to help us stay in touch with God and be guided by Him.

ALO, Abide, Listen and Obey.

We Abide with God (live with Him) by taking time aside with Him, just like we do with any other relationship, we take time to be with God by reading His Word, the Bible, and taking time to pray to God, praying is talking to God and the best conversations are two way, so we have to take time to Listen to God, and we will hear Him if we stay still long enough to listen, and then we have to Obey God. We have to believe that God has the best plan for our life, which He does, and therefore we have to obey what we here Him saying to us, we need to be guided by the Holy Spirit which is promised to us by Jesus, and who will be with us always.

So today and everyday, start it well, say ALO to God and you will be amazed at the difference in each in every day, no matter what you are going through, no matter what the distractions.

John 14:15-17 New King James Version

Jesus Promises Another Helper

15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

John 15:4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. (Jesus)
