Living in North Wales there are many beautiful things that come before our eyes, this is the view I have as I sit on our couch writing this. But the Bible calls us to be intentional about what we set before our eyes, there are many things that we can look at that are not good for us, but what we watch or look at is our choice, what we choose to let our eyes linger on can affect our minds, our hearts, and the way we relate to others.

In 1 John 2 : 16 it says there are three main problems that will take us away from God and Godliness, one of them is the lust of the eyes.

1 John 2:16 New King James Version

16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.

But Praise be to God there is a solution to this problem, by fixing our eyes on Jesus we can have our minds and hearts renewed and our desires changed.

Hebrews 12:2 New International Version - UK

2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy that was set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

The power of what you put in your eyegate can affect your whole body for good or for bad.

Luke 11:34 New International Version - UK

34 Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness.

I struggled with my eyes for years and have always had to check myself and be checked by Jean, because not only where the mind goes the man follows, but also where the eyes go the mind goes and then the man follows, the Bible warns us don't get sure of yourself.

1 Corinthians 10:12 New King James Version

12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
